OPEN HOUSE AT THE MUSEUM


The Canton Historical Museum will open its regular season on Saturday, April 1, by
holding Open House from 1-4 p.m. In this Bicentennial year there will be a retrospective exhibit
of the town’s 1906 Centennial and 1956 Sesquicentennial with photographs and memorabilia.
At 2:00 p.m. Dr. Lawrence Carlton will give a toy demonstration of old fashioned toys
which he also makes. Our printing press will be in operation by Printer Mike Wolff who will
demonstrate hands on printing, and trains will be running in the Railroad Room.
Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge for admission.

MUSEUM TO SPONSOR BICENTENNIAL BUS TOURS

The Canton Historical Museum will have two bus tours this spring covering the
town of Canton narrated by Dr. Lawrence Carlton. The first tour will be April 29,
starting at 10:00 a.m. from the Canton Historical Museum. Lunch will be served by the
ladies of the North Canton Methodist Church, courtesy of the First National Bank of
Litchfield, who will also pay for the bus driver. The Martel Transportation Company will
donate the bus for both tours. The second tour will be on Saturday, May 13, with a box
lunch and bus driver courtesy of the Collinsville Savings Society. Space is limited and
reservations may be secured by check at $10.00 each payable to the Canton Historical
Society at 11 Front Street, Collinsville, 06019.


MUSEUM ANNUAL TAG SALE SET FOR MAY 6


The annual Tag Sale sponsored by the Canton Historical Museum will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the museum. Museum personnel have been in the process of a major clean-up since January, and there will be vintage items for sale including books, paper items, and clothing. This is a major fund raiser for the museum and donations are being solicited. They may be dropped off at the museum at any time during open hours. The museum will open on April 1 for regular hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 1-4 p.m. and Thursday 1-8 p.m.
