Children's Room

Complete with a figure of Grandma reading to two children, this room has a unique collection of dolls, doll furniture, toys, and games of yesteryear. On a table are old stereoscopes and pictures for viewing.

The Victorian era saw the beginning of commercial production of toys, everything from the beautiful, if fragile, European dolls, to paper dolls and American cast-iron banks and printed blocks. This community's children probably had no more than one or two bought toys apiece. Most were homemade.
