Bride's Parlor

Bridal  Parlor - Naomi Moulton is researching the owners of  these colorful, 19th century wedding dresses.  Her project is a fine example of the possibilities for research found in the Canton Historical Museum.

Here there are mannequins in wedding gowns (1870-1896) in a parlor setting with furniture and accessories of the Victorian era.

These gowns were all once owned by people of this town; you will observe that none of them are the traditional white; people around here were very practical and colored dresses could be used after the wedding for fancy dress occasions. How tiny the brides were! Poor nutrition, youth and tight corsets were the reasons.
