Central New England Railroad Simsbury-Norfolk –Lecture & Bus Tour

Interested in railroad history in the Farmington Valley?  Joseph Mato will be making a presentation on Thursday, March 21st at 7PM at the Canton Historical Museum.  His presentation will include the development of the CNE (Central New England) which includes Collinsville where the CNE initiated service in 1871.  He will also provide interesting commentary on the redevelopment of Route 44 in 1940 much of which was rebuilt on CNE track bed which was abandoned in 1938.

Mr.Mato is also organizing a bus tour from Winsted to Norfolk which traces the original CNE train routes.  The tour is scheduled for Sunday, April 7th beginning at 9AM sharp at the CNE freight house on Iron Horse Boulevard in Simsbury, CT 06070.  It is suggested that attendees plan to arrive by 8:30.   A table will be set up in the parking lot.  Coffee and muffins will be available.  Lunch will be at Mario’s in Winsted.  The fee is $55.  Reservations can be made by calling Joe Mato at (917) 232-1555 or by email at joemato@sbcglobal.net.
